Nakajo, Niigata

Nakajō (中条町; -machi) was a town located in Kitakanbara District, Niigata, Japan. Nakajo is now part of Tainai.

As of 2003, the town had an estimated population of 27,026 and a density of 319.53 persons per km². The total area was 84.58 km².

In 2005, Nakajo and Kurokawa merged to form the new city of Tainai. Tainai City has a population of approximately 33,000.

Nakajo was the home of a Southern Illinois University Carbondale study abroad program until late 2006, when the company NSG which bought out the school decided to close the program. The buildings have since become a very small school for high school and college English majors.
