Paimio (IPA2|pimio), or "Pemar" in Swedish, is a municipality of Finland since 1316.

It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Finland Proper region. The municipality has a population of 10,103 (2008-07-31) and covers an area of 240.15 km² of which 0.83 km² is water. The population density is 40.98 inhabitants per km².

The municipality is unilingually Finnish.

Important Buildings

Paimio is best known for the tuberculosis sanatorium, Paimio Sanatorium designed by the architect Alvar Aalto.
