Bellsburg, Tennessee

Bellsburg, Tennessee is an unincorporated rural community located on the line between Cheatham County, Tennessee and Dickson County, Tennessee along State Route 49. Its approximate location is coord|36|17|10|N|87|10|00|W.

Bellsburg is unusual in that it has long been a racially-mixed rural Southern community. The community traces its name to one Shadirck Bell, an early settler who purchased convert|1000|acre|km2 in the area as it was first being settled.

Bellsburg is located near the western end of the Montgomery Bell Bridge over the Harpeth River, named for an early area entrepreneur unrelated to Shadirck Bell. The population of Bellsburg cannot be definitively stated with any certainty as it is neither an incorporated town nor a census-designated place and hence there are no widely-agreed upon boundaries, but it is likely to be less than 250.
