Marc Ambinder

Marc Ambinder

Marc Ambinder (born c. 1978) is an American editor and journalist. He is a White House correspondent at National Journal and is a contributing editor at The Atlantic. He previously worked at ABC News and was chief political consultant to CBS News from 2008 to 2011. For years he was the author of an influential political blog. He received a B.A. from Harvard University in 2001.

Though politics and the White House are his primary beats, he also writes about intelligence and national security, and has broken several stories, including new details about the raid on Osama bin Laden.

In 2010 Ambinder wrote about his experience with bariatric surgery, which reduced his weight from 235 to 150 pounds.[1] He married Michael Park, Americas Consulting Team Manager at The Boston Consulting Group, in August 2010.[2]

On December 7, 2010, Ambinder asked President Barack Obama whether he considered that Republicans would now have considerable leverage over the White House, since he did not include a raise to the debt ceiling in the negotiations regarding extending the Bush tax cuts.[3]

On the August 1, 2011 episode of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Stewart referenced Ambinder's question to Obama in December 2010 regarding giving the Republicans leverage for the debt ceiling bill. Stewart referred to Ambinder as "bow-tie boy."
