Jerry Williams (radio)

Jerry Williams (1923-2003) was an American radio host, one of the originators of the talk radio format[1].

His radio career spanned more than 50 years, beginning in 1946 at WCYB near the Tennessee/Virginia border, followed by stints at WBIG in Philadelphia, WMEX in Boston, and WBBM in Chicago. In 1968 he returned to Boston on WBZ for eight years. In 1976 he was on WMCA in New York, then back to Philadelphia: this time on WWDB, where he became the first FM radio talk host. In 1981 Jerry came back to Boston again, on WRKO.

He founded the (now-defunct) National Association of Radio Talk Show Hosts.

Jerry Williams was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 1996.
