Daniel Nana Adjei (born 10 November 1989 in Dansoman) is a Ghanaian footballer. He currently plays for Liberty Professionals FC.

Career

He came in January 2007 from B.T. International, an Adabraka-based colts club, he is nicknamed Damba. From nowhere the 18-year-old goalie, nicknamed Damba for his agility and bravery, emerged as the ‘big thing’ Liberty Professionals’ young promising goalkeeper. He revealed that Adjei was promoted from the club’s youth team to the senior side in the second round following his huge potential.^[2]

Adjei became more widely known after helping the Liberty youth side finish in second place in the famous Gothia Cup tournament in Sweden in July.

Liberty Academy won all their matches except the final which they lost 0-1 to IF Elsborg of Sweden with him. As young as his is, he has been the number one choice for the Liberty Professional soccer team and has won many honours to his credit. Agyei owes his call up and fame to the Ghalca Top 4 where he was by far the finest revelation pushing his more illustrious senior colleagues Patrick Antwi, Kotei Blankson and Nana Bonsu out of contention.

He has a brother called Mr. Timothy Adjei who is a Science teacher and works at Crofton School, Stubbington, Hants, England.

International career

The New Kid on the Block, could make Sellas Tetteh’s final squad for the Rwanda 2009 Africa Youth Championship after his spectacular display in the just-ended 2008 Glo Top 4 Tournament. Adjei Ghana's Under 20 national team first choice goal keeper came up with three spectacular saves at the finals of the FIFA under 21 championship held in Egypt this year. He was the hero of the day after saving three penalty kicks from the Brazilians, to crown Ghana as champions of the tournament.^[3] He earned his first senior call for the Black Stars in an Friendly game on 14 November 2009 against Mali national football team He was the second goal keeper to Richard Kingson in the just ended 2010 African Cup of Nations in Angola.^[4] He made his Ghana national team debut on May 5, 2010, when Ghana beat Latvia 1-0 in Milton Keynes.
