Kannancheri is a small town in Kozhikode City, situated 4 kilometers from its heart.

Description

Kannancherry contains a street called "Chaliya Therivu", means the street of saliya weavers, located near the town's famous Vinayaka temple. The temple is known as Ganapati Kshetra to locals, and it attracts thousands of devotees during an annual festival season related to "Vinayaka Chaturthi". The temple's patrons are the Chaliyas of Kannancheriare.

Most of the people in the town's Chaliya community are involved the in textile industry, with some running textile shops in nearby locatios such as Meenchandaand and Feroke. The local Chaliyas are religious people, and most of them are supporters of the political party BJP.
