The Clappers

The Clappers are a Melbourne-based rock band that were active from 2000-2004. The band consisted of Daniel Cookson (drums), Michael Birleson (guitar and vocals), Amanda Molloy (bass) and Kenton Molloy (guitar, vocals and blues harp) and are recognizable through their fuzz tone bass and heavy stomping rhythm.

The Clappers were a popular live act throughout Melbourne’s pub scene early in the new millennium due to their 'wild' stage presence which at times included guitars strummed with broken arms and atop of other band member's shoulders.

The band appeared on two compilation CD's 'Longneck Vol 2' (a Sixpack records compilation) and 'The Lobotomy Sessions' (a PBS 106.7FM compilation CD), compiled by prolific radio present Kev Lobotomy.

The band also performed a 'Live to Air' set during the Shock Treatment program on PBS 106.7FM, were interviewed on Muscle Souls (PBS FM) and the SYN FM breakfast show.

The Clappers appeared in print with reviews in Beat Magazine and in the 3RRR Trip magazine.

During their existence The Clappers played at venues including The Corner Hotel, Revolver, The Tote, and were regularly on the bill at the Pony Bar.

They also shared the stage with notable acts at the time including, The Spazzys, The Sailors, The Specimens, The Cant's, The Twits and The Meanies.

Members of The Clappers are now in bands Buster Punter, The TimeZones and Duck Duck Chop
