As in the other books in the series, the reader is portrayed as the
protagonistof the story, referred to in the present tenseand by the second-person pronoun "you." While vacationing in Greeceand visiting the ruins of Olympia, the protagonist enters a cave similar to the time portal in " The Cave of Time" and finds himself transported back to Greece circa 500 B.C. There, he has the chance to take part in the Olympic gamesof that period, either as a wrestler or chariot racer.
