A Thousand Days on Earth is the thirteenth episode in the eighth season of the popular American crime drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation which is set in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Plot

As a comedian leaves a parking lot after his gig, he finds a box with a dead child inside it. The girl's identity is unknown by the CSI and they must first find who the little girl is in order to find who is connected to her. Catherine begins to become personally attached to the case because of the involvement of a child. Evidence in the case leads her to a man who turns out be a registered sex offender, and Catherine suspects him and reveals his secret to the world. In the end after chasing down a lead to an ex-molester, they find out from her step father that it was just an accident that killed her. Catherine is confronted by the confirmed-innocent sex offender, who tells her that she ruined his life over something he didn't even do, and says he might show up later outside her house and commit suicide where she can see it.

Trivia

Stand-up comedian Greg Fitzsimmons has a cameo as the comedian that discovers the body at the beginning of the episode.
