The Talking Drum is the fifth song on King Crimson's 1973 Album Larks' Tongues in Aspic. It is the second of the three instrumental tracks from the album. The song opens with a percussion solo from J. Muir with slight background noises after which the song progressively builds encompassing all band members. At the end of the song a loud screeched tone is used leading into the final track Larks' Tongues in Aspic Part Two.

Although the song was rarely played live, it was revived during the double trio lineup of 1995 in which Tony Levin would use his Funk Fingers for the bass line. This version was shorter and used Trey Gunn's Warr Guitar to replace the violin.

The song has been performed regularly by the current lineup (featuring Belew, Fripp, Levin, Mastelotto and Porcupine Tree drummer Gavin Harrison.
