Ponterwyd

Ponterwyd

Ponterwyd is a village in Ceredigion, Wales. It lies in the Cambrian Mountains of Mid Wales, approximately 12 miles west of Aberystwyth on the A44 road.

Historic Background

Ponterwyd's rich history is evident throughout the village. At the village's heart lies 'Hen Bont' (Welsh for 'Old Bridge'), an 18th century bridge, which is adjacent to a late Georgian architecture chapel. Buildings in Ponterwyd range in date from the Georgian period to the 1980s, when a development of bungalows named 'Penlon' was added to the village.
