She was a younger sister of Moses Kapaakea,James Kaliokalani ,David Kalakaua , andLydia Kamaka'eha , and the older sister ofKaiminaauao ,Miriam K. Likelike andWilliam Pitt Leleiohoku II .The name Kaokinaiulani translates from the
Hawaiian language as the "The Royal Sacred One". The name Anna either came from her birth mother Analea or her foster motherAnna Kekauonohi . She was the second eldest daughter in the family next to her elder sister Lydia.She was, according to Hawaiian tradition, "hanaied" (adopted) to the Princess
