National Guard Trainees

gt. Jeffrey "Sarge" Millstone

Jeffrey "Sarge" Millstone was a Sergeant in the U.S. National Guard and commanding officer of a trainee squad. Sarge was hard on his recruits, demeaning them, overworking them and constantly demanding perfection, but all in the name of making them better soldiers. As such, his recruits had respect for him and looked to him for guidance and leadership. After a disastrous training exercise on a simulation of the streets of Kandahar, Sarge ordered his trainees into a truck and headed back to base. On the way, they stopped by Sector 16 basecamp and, concerned about the missing scientists and disturbing signs to an attack, led most of the squad into the nearby hills of Yuma Flats to search for survivors. Mutants then appeared, launching hit-and-run attacks, causing Spitter, Sarge's second-in-command, to panic and fire wildly, hitting and killing Sarge despite Missy's efforts to save him. Sarge's body was lost during Spitter's fall from a cliff.

Cpl. "Spitter" Cole

"Spitter" Cole, played by Eric Edelstein, was a Corporal in the U.S. National Guard and was the most-senior trainee (in terms of rank) and Sarge's second-in-command. Spitter, while on good terms with the squad, was effectively Sarge's lap-dog, doing whatever he asked of him. When the squad found itself embroiled in a desert war with Hades and his clan, Spitter and several squad members, on patrol, were ambushed and attacked in the hills of Yuma Flats by the Hill People. Spitter, his fear reaching it's breaking point, used his rifle in an attempt to make the mutants retreat, though was unable to stop in time when he shot and killed the approaching Sarge. Spitter was terribly upset over his actions, though kept it together when the squad decided to escape the hills. As Spitter was being lowered down a cliff, attached to Sarge's body, the mutants cut the rope he was using, sending Spitter tumbling towards the ground and his death.

PFC Amber Johnson

Amber Johnson, played by Jessica Stroup, is a Private First Class in the U.S. National Guard and a member of Sergeant Millstone's trainee squad. Because Amber and Missy were the only female members of the squad, they became best friends, and Napoleon held a torch for Amber due to their similar personalities. When the squad found itself embroiled in a desert war with Hades and his clan, and Missy captured after several members of the squad were killed, Amber, refusing to leave her friend behind, spear-headed a rescue mission. Most of the remaining squad were killed, as were the other Hill People (with Amber brutally bayoneting Letch when he is poised to rape her), though eventually Missy was rescued and Amber and her allies escaped. Amber is among the three soldiers who survive the whole film. It is unknown what happened to her after the film.

PFC "Crank" Medina

"Crank" Medina, played by Jacob Vargas, was a Private First Class in the U.S. National Guard and a member of Sergeant Millstone's trainee squad. Crank is boistorous, flamboyant and rowdy, traits he shares with Delmar, who is his best friend. When the squad found itself embroiled in a desert war with Hades and his clan, Delmar took leadership after the deaths of Sarge and Spitter, with Crank as his second-in-command, and, working together with the other surviving squad members, were successful in initially fighting off the mutants (such as successfully ambushing and killing Stabber). When Missy was captured and taken into the mutant's mine lair, Amber convinces Crank and the others to mount a rescue mission. At one point Crank and Delmar are separated from Napoleon and Amber, and before they reunite, Crank and Delmar are narrowly able to kill Grabber, who was armed with one of their own stolen carbine rifles, but not before Delmar is shot. Crank's concerns for his friend's health were tragically well-founded when Delmar succumbs to his injuries and dies in Crank's arms. Crank, devastated, refuses to leave his friend's body behind, his attention focusing more on escaping than rescuing Missy. Crank, in an attempt to find a way to blast open a hole to the surface, found a large crate of dynamite, Crank is initially planning to use them, only to accidentally set off its old firing trigger, which blew Crank to pieces, killing him. His efforts were successful, as a hole was blown open through the passage he found the crate in that led to an escape route.

PFC David "Napoleon" Napoli

David "Napoleon" Napoli is a Private First Class in the U.S. National Guard and a member of Sergeant Millstone's trainee squad. Unlike most of his comrades, who are boistorous, flamboyant and rowdy, Napoleon is quieter, shy and finds it hard to fit in. When the squad found itself embroiled in a desert war with Hades and his clan, Napoleon quickly became adept and survival and hand-to-hand combat as casualties continued to mount, culminating in the deaths of the most dangerous of the surviving Hill People; Chameleon (by maniacally pulverizing his head in with a rock), and Papa Hades himself (by bayoneting him through the mouth). Napoleon is among the three soldiers who survive the whole film.

PFC Delmar Reed

Delmar Reed, played by Lee Thompson Young, was a Private First Class in the U.S. National Guard and a member of Sergeant Millstone's trainee squad. Delmar is boistorous, flamboyant and rowdy, traits he shares with Crank, who is his best friend. When Missy was captured and taken into the mutant's mine lair, Amber convinces Delmar and the others to mount a rescue mission. At one point Delmar and Crank are separated from Napoleon and Amber, and before they reunite, Delmar and Crank are narrowly able to kill Grabber, who was armed with one of their own stolen carbine rifles, but not before Delmar is shot, once through his left shoulder, and another through his side. Delmar covers up the latter, insisting he is fine (not wanting to freak Crank out) and tries to walk it off, continuously assuring his comrades he is fine. Crank's concerns for his friend's health were tragically well-founded when Delmar, the side bullet having damaged one of his major organs, sucumbing to his injuries and collapses and dies in his friend's arms. Crank, devastated, refuses to leave his friend's body behind, for fear of it being defiled and eaten. Thankfully, Delmar could rest in peace, with all the mutants dead, his remains were left behind undisturbed.

PFC Mickey Elrod

Mickey Elrod, played by Reshad Strik, was a Private First Class in the U.S. National Guard and a member of Sergeant Millstone's trainee squad. Mickey appeared to be romantically attracted to Amber, who reciprocated, though whatever chances for love were tragically cut short as, when the squad found itself embroiled in a desert war with Hades and his clan, Mickey, while saving Amber from death at Stabber's hands by shooting and injuring him, Mickey was then dragged into a tiny hole in the ground that lead to the mines by Stabber, which rips Mickey in half, killing him. Mickey was the first member of the squad to be killed by the mutants. Mickey's remains were later found to have been gathered up and retrieved by the mutants for food, and Amber was devastated at his death.

PFC "Missy" Martinez

"Missy" Martinez, played by Daniella Alonso, is a Private First Class in the U.S. National Guard and a member of Sergeant Millstone's trainee squad. Because Amber and Missy were the only female members of the squad, they became best friends, and Missy more than once expressed her concern over her beloved son Clyde, who she was raising as a single parent. When the squad found itself embroiled in a desert war with Hades and his clan and several members of the squad killed, Missy was captured by Chameleon, having been deemed the most attractive female and was intended to be used as a breeder for the dying Hill People clan. Missy bravely fought off Chameleon's advances, stopping him from violating her, but in the end was knocked to the ground, pinned to a table, partially stripped, turned over, beaten and raped by the Hill People's leader; Papa Hades. Hades greatly enjoyed raping Missy, while the latter, powerless to stop him, cried as he climaxed and got her pregnant with their baby. Missy then woke up tied to Hades' bed, in preparation for additional rapes. Amber, refusing to leave her friend behind, arrived with Napoleon and freed her (the entire squad and all other mutants having died in subsequent battles). The three then battled Hades, and successfully killed the giant and escaped the area. Missy is among the three soldiers who survive the whole film, and had the child aborted upon rescue.

PFC "Stump" Locke

"Stump" Locke, played by Ben Crowley, was a Private First Class in the U.S. National Guard and a member of Sergeant Millstone's trainee squad. Stump was a friend to Delmar and Crank due to their similar personalities, though he was easily the most volatile and rebellious of the squad. When the squad found itself embroiled in a desert war with Hades and his clan, Delmar took leadership, with Stump fiercly supporting him, after the deaths of Sarge and Spitter, with Crank as his second-in-command, and, working together with the other surviving squad members, were successful in initially fighting off the mutants (such as successfully ambushing and killing Stabber). When Missy was captured and taken into the mutant's mine lair, Amber convinces Delmar and the others to mount a rescue mission, though Stump, who doubted their chances of survival against the mutants, openly refused to participate in the suicidal rescue mission Amber requested, and instead was allowed to climb down the cliffs in an attempt to reach safety and get assistance. As Stump passed a cave opening, Stump attempted to attract Delmar's attention, though instead attracted Letch. Letch quickly took one of Stump's arms off with a single thrust, and watched as Stump fell off the cliff to his death. Amber and Napoleon first realized Stump was dead when they found his trademark head-band, and then his severed arm (which they recognized from a tattoo). His mangled remains were later seen on the desert floor, though weren't retrieved.

Col. Lincoln Redding

Lincoln Redding, played by Jeff Kober, was a Colonel in the U.S. National Guard who was official head of a team of scientists sent to Yuma Flats, New Mexico (Army Designation "Sector 16") to explore the area and check if the mutant population survived the Army's purge of the area. Redding was confident that the mutants had been wiped out, but was proven wrong when Hades and his surviving clan members stalked and brutally killed the scientists, and Redding himself suffered brutal injuries when his impaled clean through his chest by a spear from Letch, and then swung over a cliff. Redding somehow survived, and remained lying injured and traumatized on the ground under a cliff for days. Soon the surviving members of Sergeant Millstone's squad found him and Redding, still somewhat sane, brought the soldiers up to speed on what they were dealing with (frightening them with the mutant's intentions) and, most likely because of his mental trauma, shot himself in the head, finally killing him.

Dr. Wilson

Wilson, played by Jay Acovone, was a scientist in the employ of the U.S. Department of Defence, and assigned to become part of a team of scientists sent to Yuma Flats, New Mexico (Army Designation "Sector 16") under the leadership of Dr. Paul Foster; to explore the area and check if the mutant population survived the Army's purge of the area. The scientist's theories about the mutants being extinct were proven false when Hades and his surviving clan members stalked and brutally killed Wilson and his co-workers.

Dr. Paul Foster

Paul Foster, played by Philip Pavel, was a scientist in the employ of the U.S. Department of Defence, and assigned to lead a team of scientists sent to Yuma Flats, New Mexico (Army Designation "Sector 16"); to explore the area and check if the mutant population survived the Army's purge of the area. The scientist's theories about the mutants being extinct were proven false when Hades and his surviving clan members stalked and brutally killed Foster and his co-workers, with Foster being killed first by Letch when he swung an axe into his head. All that was found of him was his bloodied wallet.

Dr. Han

Han, played by Archie Kao, was a scientist in the employ of the U.S. Department of Defence, and assigned to become part of a team of scientists sent to Yuma Flats, New Mexico (Army Designation "Sector 16") under the leadership of Dr. Paul Foster; to explore the area and check if the mutant population survived the Army's purge of the area. The scientist's theories about the mutants being extinct were proven false when Hades and his surviving clan members stalked and brutally killed Han and his co-workers.

Others

Pregnant Woman

An un-named Pregnant Woman, played by Cecile Breccia, was a woman captured by Hades and his surviving clan, and was then repeatedly tortured and raped until she fell pregnant with Hades's mutant baby. After 9 months in captivity, restrained to a mattress and left naked in the scorching heat and exposed to the elements, the woman had an extremely difficult delivery and birth of her baby. Because the baby died mere seconds after birth (due to its mutant organs not being able to function and the mother's poor physical condition during pregnancy), Hades killed the woman, seeing no further use for her since she can't produce healthier offspring.

Afghan Woman

An un-named Afghan Woman, played by Fatiha Quatili, was a target for Sarge's National Guard trainee squad during their training simulation on a replica of the streets of Kandahar.

Insurgent

An un-named Insurgant, played by Joseph Beddelem, was a target for Sarge's National Guard trainee squad during their training simulation on a replica of the streets of Kandahar.

Clyde

Clyde, played by Jeremy Goei, is the son of Missy, who she misses dearly throughout the film.
