The Princess Alexandra Hospital houses a fantastic pharmacy service to not only inpatients and oupatients of the hospital but also to external sites including, Herts & Essex Hospital in Bishops Stortford, St Margarets Hospital in Epping, Ongar War Memorial Hospital, Saffron Walden Community Hospital and Sydenham House in Harlow amoungst other small clinics and surgeries.
The pharmacy comprises of a Dispensary, Technical Services Unit and a Medicines Information Service for staff, inpatients, outpatients and the general public.
The Dispensary houses an automated dispensing system known as 'the robot', which has assisted in the efficient running of the department imensely. This has enabled the department to offer a ward-based pharmacy service which ultimately provides a higher level of patient Care.
