Yeshiva Gedola of Bridgeport

Yeshiva Gedola of Bridgeport

The Yeshiva Gedola of Bridgeport is a Jewish study institution in Bridgeport, Connecticut based in the Agudas Achim Synagogue on Arlington Street. The Yeshiva began in Monsey, New York with the study rooms housed within the building of the Ohr Somayach, an established school there.

The Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Simcha Bunim Berger, was born in Montreal, Canada and raised in Los Angeles, California. He studied in Israel for 15 years, and then moved to Monsey to fulfill his dream of starting a Yeshiva.

The Yeshiva has been very successful so far, with six Rebbeim, nearly 50 full time students and four separate dormitories. The school plans to expand their physical building after recently gaining the deeds to the land they are on, from the Synagogue.

The school has breathed new life into the old local Jewish community, and is slowly expanding, especially thanks to the Yeshiva's Kollel program.

The Fairfield County Community Kollel has been a warmly welcomed addition to the Yeshiva. It has made inroads to the greater Jewish community in an effort to share Torah study and Jewish experiences with Jews of all walks.
