Magha (nakshatra)

Magha (nakshatra)

Magha is a nakshatra in Indian astrology corresponding to the star Regulus.

Magha is ruled by Ketu (the Moon's south node). This is the tenth nakshatra of the zodiac, ruled by the deity Pitrigan. It spreads from 0-13°20' in Simha (in Vedic astrology) or 26° Leo - 9°20' Virgo (in Western astrology). The word "Magha" means 'Grand' or 'Noble'. The symbol for this nakshatra is the palanquin.

The main quality of Magha is that the individual has a sense of tradition and continuity of lineage. These people look towards their parents and ancestors for guidance. They are leaders in society. On the darker side, these people can be classist and proud.
