October 3, 2010Brazil will choose the successor of president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. If none of the candidates receives more than half of the valid votes, a run-off will be held on October 24.
According to the
Constitution of Brazil, the President is elected directly to a four-year term, with a term limit of two terms. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is not allowed to run again, because he was elected in 2002and reelected in 2006.
