Sukhoy Log

Sukhoy Log ( _ru. Сухо́й Лог, lit. "dry gully") is a town in Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia, located on the eastern slopes of the Ural Mountains on the Pyshma River (Ob's basin), km to mi|114 east of Yekaterinburg. It is the administrative center of Sukholozhsky District. Population: 36,300 (2005 est.);fact|date=May 2008 ru-census|p2002=36407|p1989=36577

It was founded in the first half of the 18th century. In 1847, coal deposits were prospected in the vicinity, and the village served as a coal mining center until the 1860s. Town status was granted to Sukhoy Log in 1943.
