website = [http://www.springingtheblues.com/ Springing the Blues] The Springing the Blues Festival, in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, is one of the largest and oldest Blues festivals on the East Coast. It is held on the first weekend in April every year. The dates for 2008 are Friday, April 4, Saturday, April 5, and Sunday, April 6 at the Seawalk Plaza at Jacksonville Beach. This will mark the 18th year of the festival. The event is free and is mainly sponsored by George's Music. This year, there will also be a Springing The Blues Film Festival featuring Robert Mugge with his films. This will be at the Orca Room, Quality Suites Hotel (next to festival).

Past performers at Springing the Blues have included Larry McCray, Phillip Walker, Tinsley Ellis, Saffire "The Uppity Blues Women", Maurice John Vaughn, Earl King, Mitch Woods And His Rocket 88's, Susan Tedeschi, North Mississippi Allstars, Tab Benoit, Little Jimmy King, Henry Gray and the Cats, Grammy Award winner Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Ruby Wilson, Charlie Musselwhite, Rod Piazza & the Mighty Flyers, Eric Steckel, Robert Jr. Lockwood, R. L. Burnside, Smoky Wilson, Coco Montoya, Smokin' Joe Kubek, JJ Grey & Mofro, and B'nois King.

*Named by SouthEast Tourism Society as one of the top 20 destination events in the country.
*Voted in 1997 as "Best Festival in Northeast Florida" by the popular Folio Weekly Magazine annual poll.
