Barry Goodingham

Barry Goodingham

Barry Goodingham (born 9 May 1945) was a regular first Ruckman for the North Melbourne Football Club (V.F.L.) during the late 60's and early 70's. He filled the void when the North Melbourne Football Club were short of followers. Barry Goodingham was a courageous player that never gave in. North Melbourne supporters nicknamed him 'Lurch', due to his resemblance to the butler in the television sitcom The Addams Family.

In one game at Arden Street, against Essendon football club, he had his teeth severely damaged and were lost in a ruck incident against Don McKenzie. His efforts were rewarded late in his career, when he was selected in the 1975 Premiership team, but he only briefly appeared to replace Mick Nolan late in the last quarter. However, his loyalty paid off by being rewarded a berth in North Melbourne Football Club's first day Premiership, when other talented players could have easily replaced him.

Goodingham finished his career with a two year stint at South Melbourne.
