Toms River Regional Schools is a regional public
school district primarily located in the quickly growing coastal community of Toms River, located in Ocean County,New Jersey ,United States , along the state'sJersey Shore .The area, with approximately 110,000 residents, most of whom in live in Toms River Township, has roughly 19,000 students enrolled in the regional school system's 18 schools, making it the largest suburban school district in the state, and the fourth largest school district in New Jersey (after Newark, Jersey City and Paterson). Respective of our size, the district takes enormous pride in the neighborhood school concept providing high-quality educational programs and services to our four sending towns: Beachwood, Toms River, Pine Beach, and South Toms River."]The district has three high schools (East, North, South), as well as three middle schools (East, North, South). Intermediate East and West, which was recently renamed Intermediate North, (Grades 6-8) are currently the two most populous middle schools in New Jersey at 1,660 and 1,363 students respectively. Intermediate South opened in 2005 with approximately 1,300 students. Coinciding with the opening of the new middle school, 6th grade classes were shifted from the elementary schools to middle schools in order to alleviate overcrowding in the districts elementary schools. Toms River Regional also has twelve elementary schools.
The district also operates one elementary school in Seaside Heights.
To raise money for the schools, the district created
Toms River Fest , a major festival held during the summer.Awards and recognition
