Charles G. "Greg" Davis is the mayor of Southaven, Mississippi.

Davis graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in civil engineering. He worked in engineering and consulting before turning to state politics. Davis became a Mississippi state representative and served in that capacity from 1991 until 1997.

Davis was elected mayor of Southaven in 1997 and was recently elected to a third term. In 2008, he launched his campaign to fill the seat of Congressman Roger Wicker, who moved up to fill the U.S. Senate seat of Trent Lott. [ [http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2008/jan/12/davis-among-3-in-gop-race/ commercialappeal.com: Southaven mayor hopes to represent First District in Congress] ] The initial primary was a three-candidate race which resulted in a primary runoff between Davis and former Tupelo Mayor Glenn McCullough. Davis won the primary runnoff and thus he is the Republican candidate in the special election. In the initial April 22 special election for the seat, Davis placed second to Democrat Travis Childers, but no candidate received a majority of the vote required to win the seat outright. Childers and Davis faced each other in a May 13, 2008 runoff. Davis is the Republican nominee to face childers again in the 1st district's November General Election [http://www.clarionledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080513/NEWS/80513035&referrer=FRONTPAGECAROUSEL Clarion Ledger: Childers wins 1st District for Democrats] ] .
