Plot introduction

Fledging vampire Zoey Redbird has managed to settle in at the House of Night finishing school. She finally feels like she belongs, even gets chosen as the Leader of the Dark Daughters. Plot

Zoey Redbird, vampyre fledgling extraordinaire, begins the book with a battle like no other she's faced before... Parent Visitation Night. Like her gay friend, Damian, she dreads this night and it turns out to be just as bad as she imagined. When her mother and step-father show up, Neferet and her step-father begin a religious argument that results in Neferet forcing him to either be quiet or leave for good. He chooses to leave, taking Zoey's mother, Linda, with him. Leaving the hall to avoid embarrassment, Zoey stumbles across an argument between her arch-enemy Aphrodite and her parents. Zoey feels empathic towards Aphrodite, who has been ordered to gain back her position as leader of the Dark Daughters and Sons by her overcontrolling parents.
