Tardeo

Tardeo or Tardeo Road is a popular residential and commercial locality of South Mumbai, its official name is Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya Road.Tardeo Road is one of the most important arterial road of the city of Mumbai which leads suburban traffic further south to the heart of city's business district and it stretches right from Haji Ali in the north to Nana Chowk in the south. In the past there were many proposals to construct a flyover over the existing road to ease traffic congestion, but, they never materialised due to strong protests from resident associations and also due to design complexity over the long and winding road.

The area falls under the 'D-Ward' of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and has its own postal code of 400 034 with its post-office at Tulsiwadi. It lies just 15 km from the Sahar Intl' Airport and just 1 km from Mumbai Central station. It is well connected by public transport such as buses, trains and cabs services.

Tardeo is home to Mumbai's primary Regional Transport Office (RTO) which conducts driving tests and issues driving licenses to the citizens of Mumbai. It also has important commercial offices located in the AC Market Building and the Film Centre Building both on the Tardeo Road.

In 1999, Tardeo and the city of Mumbai witnessed the opening of it's first fully-fledged shopping mall Crossroads, converted from an old pharmaceutical plant belonging to 'Roche'. The mall was an instant success and it attracted loads of people from all corners of the city, adding further strain on traffic and pollution and a worsening parking crisis.

More and more land is acquired in this part of the city to turn old mills and dilapidated structures into swanky new residential towers.

The Imperial Towers are a pair of residential towers under construction in Tardeo that are set to jointly be the tallest skyscapers in India and upon completion. They are expected to be completed by 2009
