Archibald 'Archie' Horatio Hector MacDonald is a fictional character in the BBC TV series "Monarch of the Glen". Archie is played by Scottish actor Alastair Mackenzie.

Archie is called back to Glenbogle to his dying father - Hector MacDonald - by his mother, Molly. However, he is not dying; he has a cold. This news does not go down well with girlfriend/business partner, Justine Thatcher. Molly and Hector tell Archie he is now Laird of Glenbogle, and he stays in Glenbogle for good. During his stay he takes a fancy to local headteacher Katrina Finlay, and vice-versa, but they never seem to realise that they like each other. Archie and Justine split up and housekeeper/chef Lexie gives him and Katrina a push to get together. They do, but Katrina gets a job in London, leaving Archie in Scotland.

At the end of Series 2, Archie's position as Laird is threatened by American Joe MacDonald, but Archie beats Joe in the Chieftain's Challenge. After Glenbogle's huge debts mount, Lascelles Bank sends one of their managers, Stella Moon, who tries, unsuccessfully, to win Archie's heart (just as Archie realises he loves Lexie).

Archie and Lexie get married in Series 4. Archie and his sister, Lizzie, go travel to Nepal to climb a mountain in honour of their father, leaving Lexie as the temporary laird. After the climb, Archie goes to run a vineyard in New Zealand with Lexie, leaving the lairdship of Glenbogle to his half-brother, Paul Bowman.
