Serene Jones

Serene Jones is the Titus Street Professor of Theology at Yale Divinity School, chair of the Gender, Woman, and Sexuality Studies at Yale University and president-elect of Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York.

Education and Professional Life

After graduating with a B.A. from the University of Oklahoma, Jones earned an M.Div. from Yale Divinity School in 1985 and a Ph.D. in theology from Yale University in 1991. Jones is an ordained minister in both the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ.

On July 1, 2008, Jones will succeed Joseph Hough as President of Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York. [cite news
