Adam James Harold Holloway (born 29 July 1965 in Faversham, Kent) is a British politician and is the Conservative MP for Gravesham.

Early life

He was schooled at Cranleigh School, Surrey. He was educated at Magdalene College, Cambridge where he was awarded an MA degree in Social and Political Sciences and Imperial College London where he earned an MBA. Before entering parliament, he served in the British Army with the Grenadier Guards and worked as an investigative journalist with ITN, World in Action, Panorama and the Sunday Times. During his military career he saw active combat in the Gulf War.

Parliamentary career

He was elected in the 2005 General Election for the Kent constituency of Gravesham, defeating the Labour minister, Chris Pond by just 654 votes, acquiring one of the largest swings from Labour to Conservative in the country at 4.9%. This was the first time since the Second World War that Gravesham (or its predecessor, the Gravesend constituency) had not been held by the party of government.

He made his maiden speech on 28 June 2005. He also spoke alongside U.S. Congressman John Shimkus to students on the campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) on 15 September, 2006.
