- The Hard Interchange
The Hard Interchange is a transport
interchangein Portsmouth. It is located about a mile south-west from the city centre. It currently offers bus and coach transport and the neighbouring Portsmouth Harbour Station provides trains to London, Cardiffand Brighton.
There are two passenger ferry services running from The Hard Interchange. A fast cat service operated by
Wightlinktravels to Rydeon the Isle of Wightevery 30 minutes. The Gosport Ferryruns every 10 minutes to Gosport.
The facilities at The Hard interchange are somewhat dated and in need of upgrading to compliment the nearby Gunwharf Quays. This area could also become a more important focus if development proposals within the Historic Dockyard Heritage Area progress. The council is considering either refurbishment or redevelopment. The Interchange will be updated but also the area around it could see residential properties.
