Stormstown is a census-designated place (CDP) in Centre County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is part of the State College, Pennsylvania Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,602 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Stormstown is located at coord|40|47|1|N|78|0|58|W|region:US_type:city|display=inline (40.783646, -78.016038)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.5 square miles (9.1 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 1,602 people, 514 households, and 449 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 455.2 people per square mile (175.7/km²). There were 528 housing units at an average density of 150.0/sq mi (57.9/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 98.81% White, 0.19% African American, and 1.00% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.44% of the population.

There were 514 households out of which 54.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 80.5% were married couples living together, 2.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 12.5% were non-families. 10.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.12 and the average family size was 3.36.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 35.0% under the age of 18, 4.8% from 18 to 24, 36.5% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 3.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 111.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 105.9 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $66,544, and the median income for a family was $71,184. Males had a median income of $43,250 versus $33,500 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $24,292. About 2.2% of families and 3.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 3.5% of those under age 18 and none of those age 65 or over.
