Lawrence Kushner

Rabbi Lawrence Kushner is currently the scholar-in-residence at Temple Emanu-el of San Francisco.

Biography

Born in Detroit, Rabbi Lawrence Kushner graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Cincinnati, after which he went on to receive his rabbinical ordination from Hebrew Union College in New York City. Rabbi Kushner then went on to serve the congregation of Beth-El in Sudbury, Massachusetts for 28 years. Rabbi Kushner is currently the scholar-in-residence at Temple Emanu-el of San Francisco. In addition, he is also a visiting professor at the Graduate Theological University in Berkeley. He previously taught spirituality and mysticism, as well as mentored rabbinic students as a visiting professor in Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York City and continues as an adjunt member of the faculty. Rabbi Kushner has been published in numerous articles, as well as 15 books which have been translated into six languages. Kushner and his wife have 3 children ["About Rabbi Kushner."
