University of Sint Eustatius School of Medicine (SESOM) is located on the island of Sint Eustatius. It is a four-year medical school, which grants the degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD). Instruction is divided into eleven trimesters: the first five semesters are didactic and held on the island on Sint Eustatius in Netherlands-Antilles, and the remaining six semesters are clinical rotations which take place in hospitals throughout the United States. Accreditation
In May 1999 the Government of Netherland-Antilles issued a charter granting the legal right of the University to grant the degree of Doctor of Medicine.
