Joseph Sifakis

Joseph Sifakis ( _el. Ιωσήφ Σηφάκης) is a Greek(Eleftherotypia - 05 Feb 2008) http://www.enet.gr/online/online_text/c=112,id=46050344 el_icon] (Kathimerini - 04 Feb 2008) http://portal.kathimerini.gr/4dcgi/_w_articles_kathworld_12_04/02/2008_220846 el_icon] computer scientist, laureate of the 2007 Turing Award, along with Edmund M. Clarke and E. Allen Emerson, for his work on model checking.

He was born in Heraklion, Crete in 1946 and studied Electrical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens and Computer Science at the University of Grenoble under a French scholarship. Sifakis lives in France and works for the Centre national de la recherche scientifique at the VERIMAG laboratory near Grenoble, of which he is a founderCNRS website - http://www2.cnrs.fr/presse/communique/1280.htm fr_icon] .
