Elkton is a city in Douglas County, Oregon, United States. The population was 147 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Elkton is located at coor dms|43|38|11|N|123|34|5|W|city (43.636527, -123.568098)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.5 km²), of which, 0.2 square miles (0.4 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (10.00%) is water.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 147 people, 72 households, and 45 families residing in the city. The population density was 842.4 people per square mile (333.9/km²). There were 82 housing units at an average density of 469.9/sq mi (186.2/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 94.56% White, 1.36% from other races, and 4.08% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.08% of the population.

There were 72 households out of which 15.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.4% were married couples living together, 9.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.5% were non-families. 31.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.04 and the average family size was 2.49.

In the city the population was spread out with 15.6% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 22.4% from 25 to 44, 29.3% from 45 to 64, and 22.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 46 years. For every 100 females there were 93.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.8 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $27,188, and the median income for a family was $34,792. Males had a median income of $30,313 versus $16,875 for females. The per capita income for the city was $15,385. There were 14.3% of families and 24.7% of the population living below the poverty line, including 58.6% of under eighteens and 4.8% of those over 64.
