Chris Haering

Christopher Haering (born in Pueblo, Colorado) was an American football linebacker for the West Virginia Mountaineers from 1986 to 1989.

Collegiate career

Haering came to West Virginia University in 1986. Haering's freshman season, he totaled 9 tackles. The next season, 1987, Haering saw more time as he totaled 90 tackles and an interception.

In 1988, Haering led a stout defense of the undefeated Mountaineer team that traveled to the Fiesta Bowl, only to lose to Notre Dame for the national championship. Haering made up one of the greatest linebacking corps in school history - consisting of Renaldo Turnbull, Theron Ellis, freshman Steve Grant, and Lonnie Brockman. Haering totaled 126 tackles, three sacks, four tackles for losses, three interceptions, and three forced fumbles. His season was one of the greatest defensive seasons in school history,

In his final collegiate season, 1989, Haering added a career-high 185 tackles, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one interception.

Haering is now a head high school football coach at Mt. Lebanon High School in the WPIAL.
