Ignasi Guardans Cambó

Ignasi Guardans Cambó (born on 18 May 1964 in Barcelona)is a Catalan politician and
Member of the European Parliamentwith the CiU (CDC),Member of the Bureau of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe andis vice-chair of the European Parliament's Committee on International Trade.

He is a substitute for the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairsand the Committee on Culture and Education.

Education

* Degree in law (University of Navarre)
* Doctorate in law. His PhD research ("tesis doctoral") was a comparative case law study in the impact of so called third countries mandatory laws, such as embargos or other compulsory laws on the validity and enforceabiluty of international trade contracts. It was subsequently published in 1993 under the title "Contrato internacional y derecho imperativo extranjero".

* Spokesman for the CiU party on various committees, including the Joint Committee on the European Union (1996-2004), the Committee on Foreign Affairs (1996-2004) and the Committee on Education and Culture (200-2004)
* 1996-2004: Member of COSAC
* Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe
* 1998-2004: Member of the Assembly of the Western European Union
* Member of the ACSAR Foundation, the International Bar Association, the Círculo de Economía and the Center for International Legal Studies' Congress of Fellows, among other social and professional bodies
