Paul Rübig


Paul Rübig

Paul Rübig (born on 6 May 1953 in Wels) is an Austrian politician and Member of the European Parliament with the Austrian People's Party, Member of the Bureau of the European People's Party and sits on the European Parliament's Committee on Industry, Research and Energy.

He is a substitute for the Committee on Budgets, a member of the Delegation for relations with Switzerland, Iceland and Norway and to the European Economic Area (EEA) Joint Parliamentary Committee and a substitute for the Delegation for relations with Australia and New Zealand.

* 1967-1972: Studied farm machinery design at Styria polytechnic
* 1972-1978: Studied economics in Linz
* 1978-1984: Doctorate, Linz University Institute for Auditing, Trusteeship and Accountancy

* Chairman of the EU Integration Committee
* 1996: Member of the Austrian Parliament
* since 1996: Member of the European Parliament
* EPP small businesses spokesman at the WTO
* EPP spokesman for industry, research, energy and telecommunications policy
* Vice-Chairman of the Delegation for relations with Switzerland, Iceland and Norway (2002-2004) the Arctic Council and EFTA
* 1999-2000: President of the SME Circle
* Co-President (2000-2001) and President (2001-2003), Small and Medium Entrepreneurs Union
* since 2003: President of the SME Global
* 1991-1996: Board Member of the Upper Austria Business Promotion Institute
* 1996-2000: Vice-President of the Upper Austria Chamber of Commerce
* 2000-2002: President of EUCUSA
* 2000-2005: Industry Vice-Chairman of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce
