Highway Chile is a mono single B-side by Jimi Hendrix from the Top Ten chart single "The Wind Cries Mary". it reached number 6 in the UK. It can also be found in mono or fake stereo editions on the (1968) Top Ten UK LP "Smash Hits" [ElectricGypsy by Harry Shapiro & Caesar Glebeek Page 526] and on the US compilation version of "Are You Experienced". The song is about a homeless man which Jimi met when he was on tour.

The song is an R&B foil to the A side's ballad and is notable in that it is recorded "live" without guitar and vocal overdubs, unlike Hendrix' usual backing track with multiple overdubs. It was later released with a stereo mix by Eddie Kramer on the four album box set Jimi Hendrix Experience released by Experience Hendrix/MCA/ The lyrics recall Hendrix' early image from Johnny Guitar who roams around with his "guitar slung across his back"
