Anne Chambers (author)

Anne Chambers is an Irish biographer, novelist and screenplay writer who lives and works in Dublin, best known for her biography of the 16th century Irish Pirate Queen, Grace O'Malley.

Chambers most recent books are her first collection of short stories, "Finding Tom Cruise" (2007) and "Shadow Lord" (2007), her biography of Tibbott Bourke, Lord Mayo, Grace O’Malley’s youngest son.

Personal History

Chambers has a Master of Arts in history from the National University of Ireland. She has lectured extensively on the subject of her books in Ireland, United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Jamaica. She has written a number of screenplays for television and film, including the upcoming film Grace O'Malley, currently in development with Lawson Productions and the Irish Film Board. [imdb title|1161848|title=Grace O'Malley] A number of documentaries have been made on her books including the 2003 Warrior Women series for the Discovery Channel, which featured an episode on Grace O'Malley, narrated by actress Lucy Lawless. One of her screenplays, based on the book Lorna Doone, was short-listed for the 2006 Tiernan MacBride Screenwriting Prize.
