All 47 passengers and crew survived the accident after the plane overshot the runway. A company spokesman asserted that the accident was caused by a microburst and not due to mechanical failure. At the time, there was a heavy tailwind gusting up to 14 knots. There was significant damage to the aircraft's right propeller and landing gear, but it is expected to be repaired and returned to service.
