Its seat is the town of Gryfino, which lies approximately convert|20|km|mi|0 south of the regional capital Szczecin.

The gmina covers an area of convert|253.62|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 31,284 (out of which the population of Gryfino amounts to 21,478, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 9,806).
