Sachem Public Library is located in the scenic town of Holbrook. The library is held in high esteem by the community and respected as one of the best informational outlets by its peers. Controversy struck in the spring of 2008 when the library shunned the use of Wikipedia as a source of information, after experiencing their greatest fiscal loss in nearly two decades, most likely because of the internet phenomenon's success and popularity. Book enthusiasts and children alike have ranked the Library's children's book section as the best on Long Island. A recent poll has ranked their library staff as the 2nd most efficient in New York State behind Yonkers Public Library. (Newsday, 2008)
