Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls High School

Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls High School was founded in the 1960s by the late Bishop Caesar Gatimu and was run by the Comboni mission in Karatina, Nyeri, Kenya. It initially took the name of the area it was situated, i.e. Ngandu Girls high School and the name later changed to honour its founder. The late Sr. Nazarena Zonta and her Deputy the Late Sr. Lucilla ran the school up till 1983. Various principals (or Head Mistresses as they are known) have headed this school and Include Ms. Helen Waweru among others. It has had exemplary academic record.

ONGA is the current body of alumni for the school and is currently making effort to re-unite the old girls from the school in a bid to revamp the school and help advance by making various donations to the school. It also visits the school various time sin a year to talk to the girls and offer them career advise and leadership.

Many great Kenyan women have emerged from Ngandu and in the 1980s it was ranked among the top girls school through out the decade. In the nineties it stayed in the top ten. It is currently trying to keep this position in the top ten and perhaps make it to the top three as in the olden days.
