Atlantic Beach is one of the "exclusive" villages in the South Shore of Long Island in Nassau County, New York on a barrier island generally considered to be associated with the similarly affluent 5 towns area. With mansions and summer homes priced in the millions, and amazingly soft antigua white sand with water that is described as blue and beautiful by many beach-goers, "Atlantic beach", like "Back Lawrence" and "Hewlett Bay Park" represents a high-class, private setting for the rich. As of the United States 2000 Census, the village population was 1,986.

The Village of Atlantic Beach is in the Town of Hempstead. Its western neighbor is Silver Point County Park.

Atlantic Beach has many beach clubs along the Atlantic Ocean shore, including Lawrence Beach Club, Sunny Atlantic Beach Club, The Sands, Catalina Beach Club, Silver Point Beach Club and Sun and Surf Beach Club. Cabanas or lockers can be rented at these clubs, often costing thousands per season. During the summer months, the population swells by thousands as people flood the beaches. [Cotsalas, Valerie.
