At Eurovision

Since San Marino debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008, it was not guaranteed a spot in the final like those of the "Big Four" or winner of the previous year. So, on 28 January 2008, the EBU held a special draw to determine which semi-final San Marino would participate in. The 2008 contest featured a new system for semi-final allocation in order to reduce the problems of neighborly and diaspora voting that occurred in years past. San Marino was placed in "Pot 6" of 6 and that ultimately determined that it would be in the first semi-final, held on 20 May 2008. It was announced in May 2008 that the Winner's Tour for the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 would finish in San Marino after traveling through Europe. Miodio performed in the first semi-final on 20 May 2008, appearing fifth of nineteen countries. The performance included the band wearing black suits, but with each member wearing it in a different style."Eurovision Song Contest Semi-final 1, May 20, 2008, San Marino RTV." ] A blond female ballet dancer was also included to the performance and wore a long flowing white dress. Miodio's performance did not manage to inspire the crowd, and San Marino only managed to receive 5 points with its debut entry: 2 from Andorra and 3 from Greece, placing last of 19 entries. Each country is allowed to give a maximum of twelve points to a song. Placing last in the semi-final, San Marino did not qualify for the final and became the eighth country to debut in the contest with a last place finish.
