Thway is 2003 film and first Japan Myanmar collaboration film directed by Mr. Koji Chino. The film is based on a bestseller novel "Thway", written by a well-known writer Journal Gyaw Ma Ma Lay. Real name of movie is Thway. English name is The Bonds of Blood and Japan name is Chi no Kizuna.

Plot

Yumi, a Japanese university student happenes to know one day that she has a younger brother(Maung Maung)in Myanmar who was born between her father, Toshio Yoshida and a Myanmar mother, Ma Thwe Thwe. Toshio was a former Japanese soldier sent to Myanmar during the World War Ⅱ. Brought by destiny, Yumi decides to visit Myanmar and to meet her younger brother, Maung Maung. Despite many difficulties, she can finally meet Maung Maung. But・・・・Beautiful but sad affection between Yumi and Maung Maung is described in the film.

Release

This film is Japanese/Myanmar language version with Myanmar subtitle. It is showed at Thamada Cinema, Yangon in May 24 (Wednesday), 2006 09:00-13:30 [ [http://www.mm.emb-japan.go.jp/profile/english/event_e.htm Embassy of Japan in Myanmar ] ] . Director Mr Koji Chino made the debut of the Japan-Myanmar friendship movie in Tokyo on 8 December in 2003 and in Kyoto , Osaka and other cities. When the debut was made in Japan , it was crowded with Japanese World-War II Veterans, 76-year-old Director Mr Koji said.
