Community Service and The Mr. Hudson's Bay Pageant

The Mr. Hudson's Bay pageant is a mock Miss America Pageant designed to raise money for Doernbecher Children's Hospital. Every year, 12 senior boys are nominated and voted on by the senior class and teachers to compete in the pageant. The group works together to coordinate dance, talent, swimwear, casual wear, and formal wear portions of the competition. Contestants spend four months raising money individually and as groups. The contestant that brings in the most money receives the title of Mr. Hudson's Bay.

Mr. Hudson's Bay is part of a larger community service program at the school. Since the early 1990s, Hudson's Bay has consistently been a top donor to Doernbecher Children's Hospital through the Kids Making Miracles Program [OHSU. (2003). It was reported that the 08 boys not only put on the best pageant ever seen in the programs storied history but also raised more earned money than 2007. [Kern, D. (2007).
