Digital television in Croatia

Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT) started to transmit DVB-S programmes in 1997. It transmits all three state-owned TV channels (HRT 1, HRT 2, HRT 3, later replaced by HRT Plus), and three radio stations (HR 1, HR 2 and HR 3). Satellite link is maintained by the Croatian telecommunication company Odašiljači i veze. Terrestrial

Experimental digital terrestrial television broadcasting started in May 2002 from a transmitter from Sljeme. DVB-T signal is currently available in most parts of Croatia. Transmitted programs are: HTV 1, HTV 2, RTL Television, Nova TV and regional programs: STV in Osijek-Baranja County and NIT in Istria.

Odašiljači i veze built a network of 9 transmitters, completed in 2007 and covering about 70% of the country. It plans to close down analogue broadcasting in 2010. The HDTV broadcasting using ? was experimentally started at March 2007, at one transmitter in Zagreb. Also, in the city of Zagreb there are two HD programs available: HRT HD and Discovery HD.

Satellite

Odašiljači i veze, Croatian broadcasting company has been broadcasting 3 national programs developed by Croatian Radiotelevision on Hotbird 6 on 13°E. Some parts of the program is encrypted.

Cable

Cable operator Kerman offers its customers DVB-C technology, but only as an option. Some bigger cable operators like B.net have started their DVB-C testing and are preparing to launch the service in the first half of 2008.

IPTV

Croatian's biggest telephone company T-Hrvatski Telekom offers MaxTV, the IPTV service trough the ADSL line.
