American Turkish Friendship Council

The American Turkish Friendship Council (ATFC) was founded in 2005 to encourage and foster mutual understanding, friendship and peace through tourism, cultural, economic and professional exchanges between the United States of America and the Republic of Turkey and their citizens. In 2005 Mona Diamond became the Chairman for the American Turkish Friendship Council, a non-profit organization for the promotion of Turkey in the United States.

Programmes and Causes

The ATFC support important programs such as The Turkish Lecture Series at Emory University, which was launched in 2003 to bring greater awareness of issues important to Turkey and Turkish-American relations to the Emory and Atlanta community.

They also try to help the MedShare International which is an organization that delivers medical equipment to hospitals in Eastern Turkey. The ATFC aim is to try and raise $30,000 per year to ship at least two 40 foot containers of equipment and supplies to Turkey each year.

In 2004 the Turkish Language Program at Georgia State University was launched which tries to encourage the Turkish Language programme, teaching the Turkish language to American students.
