Nick Ponting is a retired male badminton player from England.

Career

He won the bronze medal at the 1993 IBF World Championships in mixed doubles with Gillian Clark. He won the gold medal at the 1994 All England Championships with Jo Wright (now Goode). He won a gold and bronze medal at the 1994 Commonwealth Games held at Victoria, Canada. He was ranked No1 in the world at mixed doubles during 1993. He won the All England Over 40s men's doubles (with Nitin Panesar) and mixed doubles ( with Julie Bradbury) in 2008. He has since won the 40+ 6 Nations International in Holland mixed doubles (with Julie Bradbury) and mens doubles (with Dave Wood), the 2008 English Nationals 40+ mixed doubles (with Julie Bradbury) and mens doubles (with Chris Hunt)and the 2009 Scottish Open 40+ mixed doubles (with Julie Bradbury) and mens doubles (with Chris Hunt). Nick still plays competitive racquet sports and currently represents England on the over 40's badminton circuit.

Nick won the world championships 40+ mens doubles (with Chris Hunt) and mixed doubles (with Julie Bradbury)held at Punta Umbria Spain October 2009. He retained his national mixed doubles title with Julie Bradbury in december 2009 and won both doubles/mixed doubles titles at the 2010 Scottish Open with Chris Hunt and Julie Bradbury. He won the gold medal in the 40+ mixed doubles at the European Championships in Dundalk Ireland October 21010 and the silver medal with Chris Hunt in the mens doubles 40+.
